I just got back from a week vaca and boy it feels gooooood to work after a relaxing, exciting and adventure filled trip. Traveling alone isn't that bad. I've done it before but what made this trip different and special and a little costly is that I went

abroad. Of course I had my apprehensions in the beginning but everything turned out as planned. 

this map cost me 55 baht

One of my goals for this trip is to experience Bangkok on my own like a backpacker. 

 I stayed at Khao San Road--Bangkok's backpacker's haven and ate all I want street food. Since I'm not into fancy stuff lately hehe(walang budget eh),  I spent most of my time walking along narrow streets, mingling with the locals, checking out  tiangges(flea markets), listening to tourists talk to the locals and make fun of their accents, people watching--it's very entertaining, cheap foot massage and more eating. I did all of that and I'm doing cartwheels as I speak. 

Some of the food I ate along the road. (Top left) Curry broth with fish balls 40 baht, Peanut and coconut icecream 20 baht, dimsum 10baht, Fresh spring roll 20baht, assortment of very spicy dishes with rice 40baht, banana roti with nutella 30 baht, sweet cone with coconut 20baht, mango with sticky rice and coconut milk 25 baht, and sweet cone with meringue 15 Baht. 

500 ml Yakult for 19 baht

Yogurt, I can walk miles after eating this:) 13 baht each. 

30 min. foot massage along Khao San is a must for only 100 bhat. I also tried Dry whole body Thai massage for 200 baht.

Vegetarian Padthai  for 25 baht, stuffed my face with this for days:) 

 tuktuk, takes you anywhere for short distances :) prepare 40 to 50 baht.

Khao San at Night, this place transforms into a wonderland of people from different parts of the world  in search for cheap drinks, thrills and wanderlust. 

Second goal, ride an elephant, I know that it's a little child like or overrated/underrated whatever, but, I'm not too old for these types of adventure, common give me a break! It was fun and nerve-wracking at the same time. I got the chance to sit right on top of it and it was exhilarating, no words can describe the adrenaline rushing through your body as soon as the animal starts to walk fast haha. But I'm never gonna do it again. 

A new found profession--elephant trainer. Meet Etsuko not the elephant but the girl seated right behind me, she's from Japan.  (Get a packaged tour for 800 baht, approach travel agents along the streets of Khao San to visit the floating market and try the  elephant ride, by the way it's a two hour trip from Bangkok. ) 

Meanwhile, visiting the Grand Palace, seeing the reclining Buddha at Wat Po,  floating market and going to the mall--need I say more are all bonus experiences for me. 

I had one hellova a trip and I'm already looking forward to my next.

Thank God for having a supportive family at home and at work and for guiding me through out my trip. I've finally conquered and experienced an adventure on my bucket-list.

Celebrate Kadayawan 2012

Davao City is now on full blast on its biggest and most spectacular festival this August - the Kadayawan Festival 2012 with this year's theme, Ten Tribes One Vibe.

The word "Kadayawan" is derived from the friendly greeting "Madayaw," from the Dabawenyo word "Dayaw" which means "good," "valuable," "superior" or "something that brings good fortune." It is a celebration of good life, a grand thanksgiving for the year's blessings of bountiful harvest of flowers, fruits and other agricultural produce, and to honor the city's richness and diversity of artistic, cultural and historical heritage. The festival is celebrated every 3rd Week of August every year.

Four rides in one

This was a 4in1 event, it started with a press conference, followed by an agents gathering at Apo View hotel then off we went to Marco Polo Ballroom for a roadshow then an hour and a half later the show ended with a thanksgiving for the Philam employees. It was so nerve wrecking, I had no technical script to follow there were no briefing that I was going to handle the musical scoring. It was truly a nightmare considering that I did not sleep because I had to finish the set-up for the entire event at Apoview. It was all hard work for most of us. It ended pretty good and the event was applauded by the President of the company. Indeed anything is possible given the very short prep time. A very humbling event for me, I am just so happy that at the end of the day I have a family to come home to and learning's to keep. Looking forward to more opportunities and events for us!
