Top 3 Songs of the week and DIY: Sophia and A lo’s- Superhero, "C'mon Let Me Ride" (Skylar Grey feat. Eminem) and Yes To Love Lyrics by Stefano Langone

When I feel stressed I try to keep myself extra busy. I find something to keep my mind off work, a diversion that helps me break my routine at work.  I noticed that when I do this I am more focused, determined and giddy to go back to work. I am a DIY person; I’d rather do it myself than pay. A friend once said “if you want good results get a professional”. I always tell them that I learn fast and I have the best teacher--- YouTube.  And besides I’ve always wanted to learn arts and crafts.

I have so many pictures at home, from friends, pictures I took ages ago when I was still trying to learn photography and piles of pictures from family. I also love to collect picture frames and seeing this DIY inspired me to try it myself in the hopes of saving money.

Photo on Canvas :

This is how I did it:

1.            You will need  stretched canvas (I chose an 8x10 size and 3x3 size), Elmers all Purpose glue, paint brush, loofa  and the image you want to on your canvas (laser copy please) and  spray bottle with water in it.

2.            Your image will print reversed. Cover on heavy Glue coat your canvas.

3.            Lay your photo onto the canvas and let it dry overnight.

4.            Once dried, use a spray bottle to wet the top of the paper.

5.            Remove the surface with your fingers or with a loofa  until the paper start to come off. When pieces start coming up your image will be revealed.

6.            Be patient,  and yes it will be a little messy! Don’t rub too hard as this can remove your transfer on accident.

7.            Cover your canvas with one more coat of Glue to seal and protect the image.

That ceiling fan with light bulbs all over it is bulky ,wastes electricity and can attract unwanted dust and dirt . So I decided to make one, it’s economical and gives your space that color, edge and  It’s also light weight.  Presenting the

Supplies:

1 x 90cm Balloon (You can buy these from your local party shop or at Sta. Ana near Chimes )

2 x Balls of cooking twine or jute string (whatever colour you want your light shade to be)

Gloves

Round Plate

Vaseline

Scissors

Sticky Tape

Black Permanent Marker

PVA Wood Glue

Cornstarch

Water

Medium sized container to hold the Fabric Stiffener glue

Wire insert from old light shade (make sure it will be big/small enough to suit your light shade size)

Bulb set

How to make your paper glue:

300ml Elmer’s all purpose glue

8 Tbsp Cornstarch

1/2 Cup Warm Water

1.       mix cornstarch and warm water until dissolved. Add the wood glue.  Stir.

2.       This should be more than enough glue for a 50cm string pendant light. You may have some left over.

3.       The next step is to blow your balloon up to the desired size , make sure you have extra balloons incase this pops. 

4.       Draw (or trace a circle using your round plate) around big enough to fit your hand through onto the balloon using the marker.  This is how you will remove your balloon later and change your light bulbs.

5.       Get a basin to help you when maneuvering your balloon, the basin will keep it in place and will also avoid the mess.

6.       Wear  gloves and slather the balloon with Vaseline. This will stop the string from sticking when dry and make it easier  for you to remove the balloon later.

7.       Tie the end around the knot of the balloon securely so it doesn't come undone later on. Now the fun begins. Now start  randomly pacing the glue soaked string, abaca etc. around the balloon - horizontally and vertically. Try to not to miss a section in the balloon. The more string the less light will show through.

8.       Be patient and let it dry. Try not to let it dry in the sun but in a warm, shady spot. Again be patient and let it dry completely.

9.       A soon as the glue has dried,  paint the strings with an acrylic paint (water based paint).

10.   Again be patient and let it dry for a few hours.

11.   Finally Pop the balloon.!

"Superhero" received 7 more adds totaling 9 in Indonesia at 106.1 Geronimo FM, CDBS 94.5 Bali, Radio Kiss 96.2 Jember, Kalaweit 99.1 FM,103.2 Donna FM, Radio Primadona, and Radio Rajawali.

"Superhero" climbed to 31 from 39 on the Creative Disc Top 50 Chart.

The track also picked up an add on DSN-Hits.
